CHIPOLBROK – Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company was founded on 15th of June 1951 under the government of China and Poland bilateral agreement – as a first ever Sino-foreign joint-venture deed of association after proclamation of the People’s Republic of China.

June 22, 2024 - 26, 2024

President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, paid a state visit to the People’s Republic of China from June 22 to 26, 2024. During the visit, President Xi Jinping held talks with President Duda. The two sides jointly issued an action plan on strengthening the China-Poland comprehensive strategic partnership for the 2024-2027 period, which states the Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company sets a fine example for shipping cooperation between the two countries, and support its continued rapid development. Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company will actively provide shipping services for the development of trade between China and Poland.

The President of Poland, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, visited the head office of Chipolbrok in Shanghai and cut the ribbons for the inauguration ceremony of the new office building.

February 9, 1990

M/V CAI LUN imported two 245-ton converter transformers from the Federal Republic of Germany for the 500,000-volt direct current transmission project. The vessel arrived safely in Shanghai and was subsequently transshipped to Gezhouba Dam, marking the successful transportation of extra-large and high-precision production equipment by Chipolbrok.

The name of “Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company” was officially used and the C-P logo, consisting of a yellow C and a white P written side by side, was used as shipowner’s mark.

February 24, 1962

The headquarter of Chipolbrok moved to No. 18, Zhongshan Road in Shanghai from Tianjin.

September 6, 1965

M/V PRZYSZŁOŚĆ raised the Chinese flag at the Polish port and renamed m/v JIA DING. It was Chipolbrok’s first vessel flying the Chinese flag and equipped with Chinese crew.


In the early fifties:

Premier Zhou Enlai named the company Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company and clarified the cooperation principles of“equal status, mutual benefits and consensus through consultation”. Chairman Mao Zedong wrote an instruction of “running the company seriously and properly”.

June 18, 1952

Chen Yun, then Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China and Director of the Central Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs, issued Chipolbrok’s business license in his own handwriting.

April 12, 1957

Premier Zhou Enlai accompanied Mr. Cyrankiewicz, the Chairman of Poland’s Council of Ministers to visit Chipolbrok in Tianjin.


June 15, 1951

In accordance with the Agreement on the Organization of the Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company signed by the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Republic of Poland, Chipolbrok announced its establishment at No. 158, Machang Road, Tianjin.
